WEDNESDAYS ANSWER:

When the first Academy Awards were given out in 1928 a lot of actors weren't particularly pleased with the idea of competing against each other. As a result...when the votes were counted for Best Actor the winner was German Shepherd Rin Tin Tin! The Academy didn's see the humor so they gave the award to the second place vote getter German ACTOR Emil Jannings!

Rin Tin Tin of course shrugged it off and became a huge Kiddie TV star in the 50's where part of HIS competition was the Howdy Doody Show. One of the regulars on the Howdy Doody Show was a square jawed singer who played a character named Trapper Pierre. The singer went on to bigger things...and was HATED by Elvis Presley! So hated, that whenever The King saw this guy on TV he'd grab one of his ever-present guns and shoot out the picture tube! Who played Trapper Pierre?
